Why are people like Rob Reiner always so keen to stop people from being able discern what actually is "dis and misinformation"? If people like the so-called "Criminal" he refers to in his Tweet aren't telling the truth then refute it and let the rest of us weigh the arguments and decide what's true and what isn't.

Or in his view, are we not smart enough? Or is there something else in play?

Shouldn't a free and open society that has a document such as the Constitution allow people to find out what's true for themselves?
Why are him and his ilk acting (pun intended) as gatekeepers?
Whatever could they possibly be not wanting the rest of us to know?
